Medical device prototyping and healthcare IoT

We build working prototypes of connected health devices: sensor-based monitors, wearables and equipment add-ons that capture readings, stream them to an app or dashboard and alert the right person. Our part is the engineering of the prototype. Clinical validation and regulatory approval are planned with you and your specialists from the start.

What we build for healthcare

  • Proof-of-concept and pilot prototypes of monitoring devices
  • Wearable and portable devices with battery-optimised firmware
  • Sensor integration for physiological and environmental readings
  • Bluetooth links to phone apps, and Wi-Fi or GSM links to the cloud
  • Dashboards and apps for clinicians, carers or patients
  • Monitoring for medicine fridges, cold chain and equipment

From idea to working prototype

Many medical devices start as a clinician’s idea, a research paper or a university project. We turn that into hardware you can hold: choosing sensors and a microcontroller, designing the circuit board, writing the firmware, printing the enclosure and building the app. A working prototype is what you need for user testing, investor demos and grant applications.

Assistive devices follow the same path. Our ultrasonic proximity alert system, built around an Arduino Nano and four sensors, gives all-round obstacle warnings and was designed with uses such as mobility aids in mind.

Designing with regulation in mind

A prototype is not a certified medical device, and we do not present it as one. We do make the later steps easier: requirements, component choices, firmware versions and test results are documented as we go, so your regulatory team has what it needs for the approvals that apply in your market, such as CE marking, FDA clearance or DRAP registration in Pakistan.

Data, privacy and reliability

Health data is sensitive. We collect only what the device needs, encrypt connections, and give dashboards proper user access. Behaviour on low battery, lost connection or a disconnected sensor is defined in the scope and tested, so the device fails clearly rather than reporting a wrong reading.

Hospital and clinic monitoring

Not every healthcare project touches patients. Clinics and pharmacies use IoT to monitor medicine and vaccine fridges, cold-chain shipments, storage rooms and equipment run hours, with alerts when something drifts out of range. These systems use the same data loggers and dashboards we build for industry.

Frequently asked questions

Are your prototypes certified medical devices?

No. They are prototypes for development, demonstration and testing. Certification is a separate process with regulatory specialists, and we document the design to support it.

Can you build a wearable device?

Yes. Wearables are usually battery-powered with a Bluetooth link to a phone app. Size and battery life depend on the sensors involved, and we work through those trade-offs with you.

Can you start from a research paper or a university project?

Yes. Send the paper, notes or existing code and describe what the device should measure and for whom.

Do you build the app and dashboard too?

Yes. The same team builds the device, firmware and the app or dashboard that shows the data.

What to include in your enquiry

  • What the device measures, and for whom
  • Who needs to see the data, and how quickly
  • Where it will be used: home, ward, clinic or field
  • Development stage, target market, timeline and budget
