Product prototyping and 3D-printed enclosures

A prototype you can hold answers questions a drawing cannot. We build working prototypes of electronic products, covering the circuit, firmware and housing, and print every enclosure at Printonio, our own 3D printing studio in Lahore, so a design change becomes a physical part in hours.

Prototype development in Lahore, from scratch

You do not need drawings to start. An idea, a sketch or a description of the problem is enough: we work out what the product has to do, design the circuit and firmware, model and print the housing, and assemble a working unit. Clients in Lahore can meet us at our workshop in Pak-Arab Housing Scheme by appointment to bring parts, sketches or an earlier prototype, and clients elsewhere in Pakistan or abroad work with us by email and video call.

Working prototypes, not mock-ups

A useful prototype does the job, even if it is not yet pretty. We combine the electronics, firmware and enclosure into a unit you can test where it will be used, so problems with range, battery life, mounting or usability show up early, while they are still cheap to fix.

3D-printed enclosures for electronics

Every housing, bracket and prototype part we ship is printed at Printonio on Bambu Lab P1S and Creality Ender-3 V3 Plus printers, with layers down to 0.1 mm. We check the fit against the real board before the device leaves the bench.

  • PLA for fast fit checks and indoor parts
  • PETG for tougher parts that see more heat and handling
  • ABS where higher temperature resistance matters
  • TPU for flexible gaskets, bumpers and grips
  • Carbon-fibre and wood-fill filaments for stiffness or finish

We work from STL, OBJ or STEP files, or model the enclosure for you around your board.

IoT prototyping

For connected products we usually move in three steps: a proof of concept on development boards to prove the sensing and connectivity, a custom PCB once the circuit is settled, and a printed enclosure that turns it into something you can put in front of users or investors. Each step is a milestone you can review.

Mechanical and robotics prototypes

Prototyping is not limited to boxes for circuit boards. Our desktop robotic arm is built from 3D-printed links, a rotating base and a geared gripper, driven by metal-gear and micro servos under Arduino control. Printing in-house means a joint or gripper can be redesigned and reprinted the same day.

From prototype to small production run

Once a prototype is proven, we can build further units for pilots and small production runs, with assembly, testing and documentation. If you plan larger volumes, we can prepare the design for a manufacturer and advise where a printed part should become a moulded one.

/ FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you print an enclosure for a board I already have?

Yes. Send the board dimensions or a 3D model, and photos showing connectors and mounting holes. Printonio also prints for the public if you only need parts from your own STL files.

Which material should I use for an electronics enclosure?

PLA is fine for fit checks and indoor use. PETG is tougher and handles more heat, ABS handles higher temperatures again, and TPU suits flexible parts. We recommend a material once we know where the device will be used.

Do you ship prototypes outside Pakistan?

Yes. Shipping is scoped separately and agreed with you before the build.

Can you build more than one prototype?

Yes. We build one-off prototypes, pilot batches and small production runs.
